Race Athlete Spotlight: Austin Hogan

This year, Austin Hogan ran the Houston Half Marathon as part of the Race to End Duchenne team.

Meet Austin

Why did you choose to join the Race to End Duchenne team?

Our family friend Sam Killian has Duchenne, and we want to do everything we can to support him!

How many races have you participated in?

The Houston Half was my first race!

How do you prepare for races?

I prepare with lots of training, sleep, granola, and bananas.

Do you have any fundraising and/or training tips or pointers you would share with other runners – either advice someone gave you or you’ve discovered on your own?

Stretch and pace yourself on training runs! I had to fight through shin splints the last month and it was probably due to overuse and lack of a good stretch beforehand.

What will be the first thing you do when you finish your next race?

Grab my medal, rest for a few weeks, then start training for the next one!
