ICYMI: Lunch & Learn Sessions
As part of this year’s Virtual Annual Conference, PPMD offered two Lunch & Learn Sessions where we were introduced to family assistance programs available to our community and we took a deeper dive into understanding how video assessments are helping the community understand Duchenne progression.
Both Lunch & Learn Sessions are available for playback below!
Lunch & Learn: Duchenne Family Assistance Program
Little Hercules Foundation and Team Joseph formed the Duchenne Family Assistance Program (DFAP) in 2017, to provide an expanded set of resources for families in need. Little Hercules’ work includes guiding Duchenne families through the complex insurance and appeals processes of both public and private health insurers, and also includes guidance on financial resources (SSI, Medicaid waivers, etc.). Team Joseph leads the program arm that supports families directly with financial assistance and resources to purchase equipment, accessible ramps, transportation to clinic visits, vehicle modifications, and home modifications. Assistance is also available for educational opportunities, such as conferences. Ryan Fischer and Brian Denger from PPMD led a discussion with the team from DFAP to explore how families can tap into these much needed resources.
Lunch & Learn: Casimir DVA
An educational discussion about how and why video assessments may help the Duchenne community and understand how video assessments may be more sensitive to the way patients move over a shorter amount of time than other assessments.
Did You Miss the PPMD Virtual Annual Conference?
PPMD’s first Virtual Annual Conference was incredible with nearly 2500 families, care providers, researchers, scientists, and industry partners joining us for four days of informative updates on the clinical trial pipeline and care in Duchenne. We all missed gathering in person, but what a wonderful alternative this virtual meeting turned out to be! If you missed a session, or if you want to go back and take another listen to a favorite presentation, the full livestream of each day is available.
In the coming weeks, we will provide edited sessions and copies of each presentation that was shared – but for now, check out these full livestreams.
