Incremental Disease Burden (Healthcare Costs and Resources) of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in the US: A Matched Cohort Analysis

Journal

This study found that people with DMD need much more medical care — including more doctor visits, therapy sessions, and medications — and that their healthcare costs are significantly higher than those of people without the condition. This study also showed that as the disease progresses and a person needs a wheelchair, the costs and medical needs increase even further, highlighting the importance of developing new treatments.
