Tennessee

This state is RUSP aligned: Tennessee has a law that requires the state newborn screening program to include all conditions on the federal Recommended Uniform Screening Panel (RUSP). Duchenne is on the RUSP, and Tennessee’s law requires that all newborns are screened for Duchenne by December 16, 2028.

In April 2026, Tennessee’s Genetics Advisory Committee formally voted to approve the addition of Duchenne to the newborn screening panel. Tennessee is expected to begin Duchenne screening all babies born in the state by their RUSP deadline.
