2014 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend

January 9-12, 2014


Join us for Run For Our Sons' 10th year at the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend! This is the place where our run program began, and we have an extra special weekend of celebrations in store!

runDisney has announced some new races for 2014 in addition to their classic distances:

Inaugural Dopey Challenge - complete the 5K, 10K, half marathon and full marathon on 4 consecutive days and get 6 medals, including the Goofy Challenge medal. That's 48.6 miles!! **Please note that Dopey participants will compete in a timed 5K that is separate from the Family Fun Run. Both 5K races will take place on THURSDAY, January 9, 2014**

Goofy Challenge  - complete the half marathon and full marathon on back-to-back days and receive a special commemorative medal!

Full Marathon - a character-filled 26.2 miles  through the parks on Sunday, January 12, 2014.

Half Marathon
- 13.1 miles of magic through the parks on Saturday, January 11, 2014.

Inaugural 10K - 6.2 miles that start and finish at EPCOT on Friday, January 10, 2014.

Family Fun Run 5K - A non-timed run for the whole family. All ages welcome. **The 5K race will take place on THURSDAY, January 9, 2014**

If you ran with us in 2013, your entry fee is waived for 2014! Enter REPEATDW14 in the discount code box beneath where you choose your participant type (you must be logged in to see the box).

**All repeat runner who are running the Dopey Challenge will be required to pay a $100 registration fee. Use discount code DOPEY to receive your discount**

3-2-1 Challenge

The 3-2-1 fundraising challenge is back once again! The first 20 people to raise at least $3,000 prior to December 1st will received TWO free nights at one of Disney's resort hotels! And if you raise $5,000, we'll give you THREE free nights!

Only individual runners are eligible for this prize - team fundraising totals do not qualify.

To participate in the 10K you must be at least 10 years old on race day.
To participate in the half marathon you must be 14 years old on race day.

To participate in the full marathon or the Goofy Challenge, you must be 18 years old on race day.

Run For Our Sons Requirements

  • Runner package fee ($475 for the Dopey Challenge, $320 for Goofy Challenge, $150 for Full & Half Marathons, $85 for the 10K, $50 for 5K), which counts toward your fundraising minimum.

  • Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy (PPMD) requires a fundraising committment of $1,500 to participate in the Dopey Challenge, $1,200 to participate in the Full Marathon, Half Marathon or Goofy Challenge, $1,000 to participate in the 10K and $400 to particpate in the 5K. To help you reach this goal, PPMD provides fundraising tips, a personalized webpage and other fundraising tools. Our fundraising minimums are determined on a race-by-race basis in order to recover costs and maximize the funding going directly to help those living with Duchenne.

    Minimum due date: January 2, 2014

By joining the RFOS team for this race, you are personally pledging to raise the required fundraising minimum. If your minimum has not been met by the date specified above, PPMD staff will contact you to secure your position on the team with a credit card. You will then have four weeks after the date of the race to continue to collect donations, after which time you will be asked to make up the difference between the minimum and what you have raised.
