Welcome to Art for a Cure for DMD
We are sisters Rebecca and Clarissa, 9th and 6th graders from Seacoast New Hampshire, & we are organizing an art show & auction at the Cooperative Middle School in Stratham to help fund research for a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. We hope that you can attend the art show and silent auction, which is Saturday, May 31st, from 6pm - 8pm, 100 Academic Way, Stratham, New Hampshire.
If you can't make it to the auction, you can still help! The DMD Ladybugs need your assistance -- they are trapped on Facebook! For $10, you can send a DMD Ladybug to its cluster, which means that you will be helping to fund research to end Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy! AND for every Ladybug you liberate, you will be entered into a drawing for a special piece of artwork! $10 frees 1 Ladybug, $15 liberates 2, $25 helps 3, or $35 frees 4! (Please type "Ladybugs" in the notes field at the end of the donation form.) We will write your name on each Ladybug you help and post photos of the cluster on Facebook as it grows. Click on that giant red "Donate Now" button and watch the Ladybugs cluster! After you donate, buzz on by our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/ArtToCureDMD and let us know that you've freed a Ladybug or two (or three, four or more.) While you're there, "share" the appropriate "I just liberated the DMD Ladybugs" photo on your timeline (found in photos) so that DMD Ladybug Liberation can go viral! Thanks!
Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) affects boys and "is the most common fatal genetic disorder diagnosed in childhood, affecting approximately 1 in every 3,500 live male births (about 20,000 new cases each year). Although there are medical treatments that may help slow its progression, there is currently no cure for Duchenne." - the Parent Project. The proceeds from our art show and auction will go to Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy to help find a cure.
