Keep Jake Running
Once again, the time has come for me to ask for your support. As you know, our son Jake Levin, is afflicted with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Duchenne is a progressive disease that robs boys of their ability to walk by the age of 12-14, the use of their arms and hands by their late teens, and ultimately causes heart and lung issues that make it the number one genetic killer diagnosed in childhood. Today, there is no cure.
We have spent the last 2 ? years generating support for Duchenne specifically to research projects that can have a direct effect on Jake’s health. A lot of progress has been made, and we are quite hopeful that the efforts we are supporting will bring treatments that will help Jake slow down the progression of the disease, while we look for a cure down the road. This is a strategy that has worked quite well with AIDS/HIV and we are confident it will be applicable to Duchenne. Right now, our efforts are focused on developing and testing drug compounds that will keep Jake strong and walking until we can find a cure.
However, now we are in a race against time. Every day this terrible disease progresses a little further, and now is when we must really try to raise the bar in our fundraising efforts. That is why I am running the NYC marathon for the third straight year to raise money. The race is November 1st, and I will be running for the Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy team.
I ask you to please support my cause, anything is helpful, and we are getting closer and closer to helping the boys who have this most terrible condition. Please support us by donating online, click "make a gift" underneath the thermometer, or you can send a check to:

thanks
