Why I Run
I am running the Disney half-marathon on the weekend of his birthday. But I am not running for him.
Anthony was one of 6 boys who tried an experimental drug. We saw it work. We saw him change into an energetic boy who could finish the day without feeling defeated and exhausted.
So I am not running for him.
This time I am running for the other boys the 85% of the boys for whom this drug won’t work. We need another solution for them.
I am running because they deserve the hope that we now have. Their mothers and fathers need to be able to sleep at night knowing that they too have a chance. Let’s give all our boys a chance to live their lives to the fullest.
This is about going the distance no matter what your struggles are. Take one step at a time, keep going when you can’t anymore, enjoy the journey when it’s easy, and get up again when you fall.
This is about all of us: Anthony, the other boys, and their families are a part of you, too. | |
