CORPORATE SPONSORSHIP
Showcase your generosity. Join the fight against Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
PPMD’s Run For Our Sons sponsorship program provides businesses with the opportunity to be recognized for playing a leadership role in the fight to cure Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

At Run For Our Sons events, teams of runners go the distance for Duchenne in marathons and other organized races across the country to help raise money for a cure. With growing visibility, sponsorship of these teams offers great PR for your company and connects your image with these inspirational runners. We offer an array of recognition benefits in accordance with your level of support.

When you sponsor Run For Our Sons, you can be sure that you’re being associated with an organization that holds the highest ethical and financial standards. Parents Project Muscular Dystrophy receives consistently high marks from watchdog organizations, including a seal-of-approval from the Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Alliance. Additionally, in 2006, PPMD was the only muscular dystrophy charity to receive four stars from Charity Navigator.

RUNNING AS TEAM-BUILDING
Creating a Run For Our Sons team is a terrific way to foster workplace bonding and improve employee morale. You and your employees will feel great, while burning off the calories from all those birthday cakes in the conference room!

PITCH SPONSORSHIP TO YOUR BOSS
Many large companies have sponsorship programs to encourage employee volunteering. In some cases this takes the form of matching funds. If your workplace doesn’t already have a program in place, speak to your employer about what we do.

Encourage them to become sponsors themselves, both for the rewards it can bring the company and the difference they’ll be making in countless lives.   top

Why I Run

My son, Anthony, has Duchenne. I am running the Disney half-marathon on the weekend of his birthday. But I am not running for him.

Anthony was one of 6 boys who tried an experimental drug. We saw it work. We saw him change into an energetic boy who could finish the day without feeling defeated and exhausted.

So I am not running for him.

This time I am running for the other boys – the 85% of the boys for whom this drug won’t work. We need another solution for them.

I am running because they deserve the hope that we now have. Their mothers and fathers need to be able to sleep at night knowing that they too have a chance. Let’s give all our boys a chance to live their lives to the fullest.

This is about going the distance no matter what your struggles are. Take one step at a time, keep going when you can’t anymore, enjoy the journey when it’s easy, and get up again when you fall.

This is about all of us: Anthony, the other boys, and their families are a part of you, too.
